This post will rewire how you think about rendering optimization. This is a deep dive.

As an optimization expert, I spend countless hours profiling games and finding ways to make them faster.

In the last few years, I have also invested my free time in researching how GPUs work, conducting experiments, and analyzing profiler data.

Bit by bit, I developed a mental model that makes sense to me:

✔️ During the last two weeks, I turned that reasoning model into a set of clear slides that should be easy to follow.
✔️ It is not an accurate representation of real GPU hardware. However, it is a well-thought-out logical model of the rasterization pipeline.
✔️ Every day, this helps me reason about rendering and profiling data to choose the right optimization path.

Enjoy! 👇
